Managed a multi-year program to create a distributed point of sale application for a major manufacturing company. The project ran from the initial requirements stage through to distribution and maintenance. The project team spanned three continents with product management and business analysis in midwestern and western United States, UI design (vendor) on east and west coasts of the United States, development and QA (vendor) in Europe and test automation (vendor) in Asia. Product had both client and server components and was developed in .NET and Java using Oracle on both client and server. Staffing varied and included a minimum of two teams of engineers, two teams of quality engineers, a team of business analysts, subject matter experts, UI design and usability analysis. Support engineers were brought in prior to pilot distribution. Client distribution is expected to exceed 5000. A combination of waterfall and agile development methodologies was used.
